What is your name and current position?
McKensie Steele, Senior HR Generalist.
How long have you been employed at Forecast5?
I started working for Forecast5 on June of 2019.
What office are you based out of?
I am based out of the Naperville, Illinois, office.
Why did you join Forecast5?
I joined Forecast5 because it intertwined my two passions and career directions - education and HR. As a former teacher, I understood the importance and necessity of our products and was so excited to be a part of it. On the other hand, being able to join a department (HR) that prides itself on establishing and maintaining a superb work culture was important to me. I knew immediately that I was going to be joining a great company when, during my second interview, I was able to meet some of my future colleagues during a Community Engagement event.
What is the most interesting or favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of my job is being able to contribute to an employee's everyday work experience in a positive way. Whether it's being a listening ear, offering advice, encouraging positivity, or fixing an issue with one of our HR functions/tools, it all makes me happy that I'm able to help and make someone else smile.
What is your favorite movie/book/music?
My favorite movie is Forrest Gump. I don't have a favorite book, but I love anything dealing with mythology. When I was a teacher, I taught young adult literature, so my favorite books to teach were Fahrenheit 451 and To Kill A Mockingbird. My favorite music is Rhythm and Blues (R&B), and I am an ultimate Beyonce fan.
What is an interesting fact about yourself (personal or professional)?
I am a licensed reality TV expert who specializes in all of The Real Housewives franchises (except for Dallas).
As the COVID-19 pandemic moved across the nation, schools began closing, and Merrillville made the decision to move all classes virtual. Dr. Dexter Suggs, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction, was faced with the daunting task of trying to determine how to support student learning in this new environment.
