Meet Katie Henry

Posted on Aug 6, 2019 11:45:49 AM

Meet Katie Henry, former Finance Director of City of Sherwood and international traveler.

What is your name and current position?
Katie Henry, Municipal Services Director

How long have you been employed at Forecast5?
I started working for Forecast5 July 1, 2019

What office are you based out of?
I work in Sherwood, Oregon.

Why did you join Forecast5?
As a former City Finance Director, I used 5Cast to transform the way we looked at forecasting and budgeting. It allowed me to better communicate with citizens and Council and enabled our leadership team to make much more informed decisions. My goal is to help share these tools with municipalities across the state and throughout the country.

What is the most interesting or favorite part of your job?
I love getting to meet people from all different types and sizes of local governments and finding the similarities and differences. Being able to share solutions to common struggles, no matter how far away we might be or how different in size or makeup the governments might be, makes me feel like a part of the bigger picture.

What are some cool projects you’ve seen our clients do with F5 products?
The City of Sherwood used the scenario comparison tool within 5Cast to make some difficult decisions surrounding the implementation of a compensation study. The study revealed that the staff was significantly under paid compared to the surrounding municipalities. It was going to cost a significant amount to implement and it was therefore extremely important for Council and the Budget Committee to understand how this would affect the general fund balance further down the road. The comparative tool allowed them to make difficult decisions and keep the City on a prudent financial track.

What is your favorite movie/book/music?
Coyote Ugly/Leadership and Self-Deception/Sam Smith

Tell us one interesting fact about yourself?
I lived in France from age 10 to 18 and attended all Junior High and High School in French.
